Keep security gates locked

An important safety tip to keep criminals out.

The police in Carletonville gave a crucial safety tip for residents who want to keep serious criminals out.

Although it seems logical to lock your doors and security gates, residents sometimes leave these open to let their houses cool down in the summer heat.

This, however, makes it easier for criminals to gain access to your home.

According to a senior police officer, residents must especially lock their security gates and doors, as it is more difficult for a robber to kick or break these down fast. In many of the recent house robberies in the area, robbers broke down doors, especially back doors, to get access to homes.

The idea is to always also lock your door.

Meanwhile, residents are advised to look out for suspicious-looking people or vehicles near their homes. If you should see someone or something that does not seem right, contact your security company or the police.
