Delhi Capitals allrounder Ashutosh Sharma, who on Monday played a fiery knock to take his IPL team over the line in a daunting 210-run chase, was seen having a tête-à-tête with his mentor Shikhar Dhawan over a call in the dressing room after he had stunned Lucknow Super Giants with his innings.
Chasing 210, Delhi slipped to 7/3 in the second over and limped to 116/6 after 13 overs, but Ashutosh’s brilliant innings, 66 off 31 deliveries with five sixes and as many boundaries, delivered his team a sensational victory over Lucknow.

Sealing the victory over Lucknow with an emphatic six and displaying composure, Ashutosh dedicated his Player of the Match award to his mentor Dhawan.
“Want to dedicate this award to my mentor Shikhar paaji," the allrounder said while speaking at the post-match presentation.

“He was really happy. Love you paaji," Ashutosh was seen saying in the video. He met Dhawan for the first time in a pre-season camp with the Punjab Kings before IPL 2024.
Impressed by Ashutosh, Dhawan gave him his bat as a gift. The bond just grew stronger when he kept interacting with Dhawan and benefited from his advice during his Punjab stint last season.
Ashutosh said that his interactions with Dhawan helped him understand the importance of visualisation, something that the former India cricketer stresses. The innings against Lucknow would not have come without visualisation.
Even as wickets fell towards the end, Ashutosh kept his composure and executed brilliant bottom-handed strokes to finish the job for his team and give Delhi a stunning start to their season.
In a contest where fortunes swung from one team to another, Delhi emerged on top riding on the calm and composed innings from Ashutosh, who hit the winning runs as Delhi made 211/9 in the final over.
The pair of debutant Vipraj Nigam (39 off 15 balls, 5x4s, 2x6s) and Ashutosh threatened to turn the tables on Lucknow with their 55-run partnership off just 22 deliveries for the seventh wicket.
