I know a lot of y’all won’t care or have an opinion. I’m curious what you consider the southern US. This is my map. I did the best I could on my phone. I’ll post a new one for y’all in a minute.

I noticed that you only circled the northern part of Florida. I agree with you. The northern part of Florida is the south. South of that, it is not the south any more. Makes total sense, right?

But it's true.

I’ll have to disagree with the Federal Government: Delaware is not southern, I’m not sure what the hell it is other than the land of tax free shopping but it’s definitely not southern. The District of Columbia isn’t even a state, it’s an amusement park! Florida is south but it’s not “Southern” , it’s where all the Canadian go to avoid the cold of winter, eh. I’ve only been to Kentucky once but in their defense they do talk funny and they do enjoy Mint Juleps so maybe they can be “honorably mentioned “. Maryland, what can I say about Maryland other than it’s filled with politicians and you know that rules out hospitality unless the bribes are huge. Oklahoma is more midwestern than southern as is Texas, if it wasn’t for all the oil it both states would be one large ranch. I will say I did enjoy line dancing and the ladies were awesome! Virginia maybe for lovers but again it’s filled with politicians, spymasters and hawks so the Virginia for lovers thing is moot and not remotely “southern”. West Virginia is on the cusp so I’m going to agree with the Feds (god help me) on this. Lots of friendly folk in West Virginia but a lot of people have the last name too and it can get a little confusing.

 

I can't go east of the Mississippi River due to a witch doctor's curse, so my opinion is...at least around there...

Also...what is Florida considered then? That seems pretty south. At least the northern parts, and OK is the Midwest for sure, and I too would consider that part of TX southern as well.

You can tell for sure you're in the south by the amount of swamp ass you get. You tell a southern person you're from AZ or NM the first thing they ask you is, "Oh you got dat heat, huh?"
